Adies Servers Problems/Crashes/Errors
Here is a list of problems, errors, crashes and the generally odd things that can happen within Unreal Tournament. This section focuses on problems relating to our and Unreal Tournament Servers in general. You can look at our UnrealEd 2.0 and Unreal Tournament error pages for errors that are more specific to those areas.
Version Mismatch
When trying to join to some servers you may have seen the error Version Mismatch and of course you can not join.
This is caused by UT package files having the same name but actually being different, so a server may have one version and you have another. An infamous example of different file versions with the same name was the DE.u package which came with Bonus Pack 2, trying to join a server with a differing version you would see the error DE Version Mismatch.
Another known official file was credits.utx which is a texture file.
To overcome this you can remove and backup your original of the named file from your Unreal Tournament games folder this is commonly
c:\Program Files\Games\UnrealTournament\. Once it is removed and you connect to a server the matching version is automatically downloaded.
The moral of the story is to ensure any files you make have unique names and never edit an official, or someone else's package without giving it a new name.
He Was PINK!
Well you may have seen some players on our server appear to be pink, this is an interesting error. For example when a player on the blue team picks up a shield belt then is switched by the Teambalancer mutator to the red team while still wearing the shield belt. The shield belt remains blue but the players skin is now red so the player appears pink. The same happens if a player started on red then was switched to blue, there shield belt is red but there skin is blue.
This only lasts until the players shield belt is depleted, once a new one is picked up it is the correct team colour.
My Strangelove Did Not Fire
When you try to use a Strangelove launcher in primary or secondary fire, immediately upon picking it up you will notice it does not fire.
The launcher does make a sound and move as if it fired but does not. After picking up an SLV launcher there is just a small delay before you can fire it, which you will need to master and learn to live with.
